Ughhhhh SO much has happened since my last post that I will probably forget 40% of it. So I am not going to try and go in any kind of logical progression because that will take too much thinking.
First of all...let me just say that I am typing with two hands now...!!! I went to the doctors on the 30th, and I was thinking that I would get an Xray and then be bandaged up again...but was pleasantly surprised when the doctor did not proceed to put me in another bondage...even though in the Xray it showed that one of my fingers is not totally healed. The doc said about 70% is healed, and we still have about 30% to go. So I still can't swim or bike outside for another week, but at least I know it will be soon (and if I REALLY wanted to, I could, because I no longer have a cast. But I won't - I'll wait it out 7 more days...). Meanwhile, I have to go to therapy everyday to get back the motion in my hand. They are so great there - I am so impressed by the quality of care there. I dip my hand in a paraffin bath, which is sort of just hot water with wax (I'm sure there is more to it but I am not aware of anything else), peel off the wax glove that accrues after dipping 6 times, then do exercises, and repeat that 4 times. Then after that, I get electro stim for about 10-15 minutes, and then I get an ultrasound for 5 min. I am there usually for about 60 - 80 min everyday, but that actually works out really well because even though I just started Korean lessons everyday this week too, the elementary schools are on vacation now so I don't have a normal schedule at school. This past week I only went in two days, and I went for 3 hours each day. New years was off, Monday I got off (Dec 29), and Friday also, so I have had extra time. And next week we start English camp, which will consist of me being at school for about 9a - 1p. After school I will go to the doctors at 2-3 (3:30)p everyday. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, I will go to practice after that from 5:30 - 8ish, and then to Korean at 8:30-9:30p. Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays I will ust go to Korean after the doctor, from 5:30-6:30ish. So the therapy came at a pretty perfect time. I think I only need the therapy for another week, although I am not positive...but not too much longer than a week in any case. Although in the past 3 visits I have made SIGNIFICANT progress and improved a great deal in my range of motion, which I am SO pumped about. That paraffin bath seriously works wonders.
New Years...was...a trip. I am not going to go into that yet, will save that for tomorrow. And I will go more into my new Korean tutor and lessons at that time also. But I just have to comment on something amazing that I saw tonight. C and I were in the car on the way home from seeing the movie "Yes Man" (which I thought was pretty funny, although pretty cheesy at some points), and we were stopped by traffic police on a somewhat busy backstreet (the police were stopping every car, we weren't infringing the law or anything... :) ), and C stopped and blew into this object that I soon realized must have been a breathalizer, and then drove on. I was SO amazed!!! I thought that was FANTASTIC. I couldn't get over it!! He just drove by not really commenting about it at all so apparently it is pretty common...but I can't get over that they have that in Korea and they don't have it in the States...at least they didn't since I've been there, on any roads that I have ever traveled on. Wow. I was just so impressed. That is the way to give people incentive to not drink. Or at least one way that might prove affective for some people who weren't respecting the law in the first place.
Now its time for me to go relax. New Years post to come soon :) And I hope you all had a fantastic New Years!!!
